作曲家マイケル・シューマッハーが「ポータブル・マルチチャンネル・サウンドシステム」を横浜に展開します。このシステムは身近な素材で構成され機動性に優れると同時に、最大12チャンネルの独立した音声出力が可能です。シューマッハーは空間の持つ独特の音響特性に基づいて作曲を行います。ある空間の音の響き方「新しい器」に、このサウンドシステムを駆使した音楽「新しいワイン」を注ぎ込むと例えることができます。あらゆる空間は独自の響きを持っており、様々な影響（フィルタリング）を音に与えます。ここに焦点を当て、空間に適した音声と信号処理技術を選択することで、その空間でのリスニング体験を強調することができます。こうした形式的かつ構造的な特性に焦点を当てて作曲を行います。

Composer Michael Schumacher will install his “Portable Multichannel Sound System” in Yokohama. This system is constructed from inexpensive and found materials, offering excellent mobility while enabling up to 12 channels of independent audio output at the same time. Schumacher composes based on the unique acoustic characteristics inherent to each space. It can be likened to pouring music—the “new wine”—into a space's unique resonance—the “new vessel”—using this sound system. Every space possesses its own distinct resonance, imposing various influences (filtering) on sound. This means focussing on the results of the spatial transformations of sounds, the filtering process in both its specific and general aspects, choosing sounds and signal processing techniques for their amenability to localization, and working with formal and structural principles that highlight and support the experience of spatial listening.
